Romans 12:17-21

Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. 18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. 21 Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Why is our tendency to repay evil with evil?

Matthew 5:14-16

A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.15 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
What does it mean that followers of Jesus are the “light of the world?”

Prayer Focus
Showing love to someone you feel doesn’t deserve it can be hard. Even more, doing good to them and blessing them seems out of the question. That’s why we need Jesus’ help on this. Pray and ask Him for this supernatural ability to conquer evil with good. There are probably one or two people who come to mind when we talk about people we are angry with. Pray that the Lord would help you to forgive, but also to show you ways to bless them this week so that He might be glorified.
